Acupressure is a specific treatment technique that originated in Japan and is closely related to Trigger-Point Therapy. The traditional technique involves a very regimented approach in which specific points are pressed and released. The more western type of treatment is based on an assessment of restrictions and pain, with treatment applied accordingly. Acupressure is often used in connection with dry needling for more deep seated muscular “knots”, or longstanding postural problems such as kyphosis, scoliosis and lordocis.
